President’s Newsletter - May
With the coming of May, hopefully Spring is here to stay. We should be in for some good weather for Alumni outdoor activities such as biking, golf, hiking, and pickleball. Check the events calendar for your favorite activities.
Here’s the usual reminder that all members are welcome to attend board meetings, which will be held every other month on the first Wednesday at 1:30pm. Meetings are at FNBO Bank, 155 Boardwalk Drive. Next meeting is Wednesday, May 7.
SAVE THE DATE: Annual Picnic will be on June 22 at 2:00pm at the Fossil Creek Community Park. Further details will be firmed up later, but the plan for now is to have food from Dickey’s BBQ again.
The following interest groups still do not have coordinators:
Dinner in the Home
Dinner Out
Bridge
Bunco
Game Night
Gatherings
Pinochle
Theater
Please consider stepping up to coordinate one of these groups (it’s easy!) to prevent the board from eliminating them. “Gatherings” is always a very popular activity and it would be a shame if it went away.
We have two new interest groups: Mah Jongg and Bikes ‘n Bites. Please sign up on the Interests page of the website and check the events calendar for dates & times. We already had a Bikes ‘n Bites ride from the Environmental Learning Center to Vern’s in Laporte for lunch and then back again. A small but enthusiastic group took part and we look forward to having more members join us.
Anyone who needs help registering for an event can visit the following website for a Club Express tutorial: https://tinyurl.com/ycx9pj25
I’d also like to announce a new feature coming to the club website pending board approval: the Interests Photo Album, which can be accessed through a “button” on the home page. So please plan on taking photos of your events. Further instructions on how to post them coming after the board meeting. And if you object to appearing on the website, just excuse yourself from the photos.
