President’s Newsletter for April
Spring is here (although as we all know, winter weather could re-appear at any time on the Front Range). Let’s look forward to more outdoor activities as the weather improves.
The ability to pay for dues and special events such as the annual picnic and winter holiday dinner with credit cards is now active. As stated last month, the club will initially absorb the added fees associated with this convenience, but a small dues increase may be needed next year to offset the increased costs.
We have done away with family memberships; each member must join or renew on their own. The conversion has already been done in the Club Express system so that each person now has their own unique membership. Dues remain the same, but are split at $10 per person instead of the old $20 family membership.
The board has voted to reduce the current 60 day grace period to 28 days. Members who do not renew by 28 days past their membership expiration will automatically be dropped.
We will now have two Men’s Breakfast events. The traditional last Friday breakfast at 8:00am will continue as usual. But in addition, there will be another breakfast on the third Tuesday of the Month at 9:00am to be held jointly with the Newcomers Club. Alumni members are requested to sign up for one or the other unless spots open up as the events draw near.
We are also working on establishing a new biking group to be held with the Newcomers group. Details to be announced as they are worked out.
The Habitat for Humanity Volunteer Interest Group has been disbanded at the request of the coordinator. There have been no volunteers for this activity in several years (as is also the case with the original Newcomers group).
There will be a membership survey coming soon. This will be your opportunity to help the board to better understand member needs, and to express an interest in volunteering to serve the club.
SAVE THE DATE: The annual picnic will be held on June 14th this year. Thanks to Erie Lapidus and Susan Leopold for coordinating this event. Details coming later.
This is a reminder that the formerly popular GATHERINGS Interest Group has been re-established. Please sign up for this group on the Interests page if you would like to attend, and please contact the coordinator, Frances Hutto (fv.hutto@att.net), if you are willing to host a gathering at your home.
And lastly, here is the usual reminder that Board meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every other month and that all members are welcome to attend as observers. The next meeting is at 1:30pm on May 6 in the conference room at FNBO, 155 Boardwalk Drive.
